Al-Anaam

- 6 -

1
In the name of Allah, the most gracious and merciful. Praise be to Allah, who created the heavens and the earth and made the darkness and the light, yet the disbelievers make others equal to their Lord.
0
2
He created youMP from clay, then predestined a period of time. The period is set with him. Yet youMP doubt.
0
3
He is Allah in the heavens and the earth. He knows yourMP secrets and what is obvious. He knows yourMP gains.
0
4
They turn aside from every sign of their Lord that comes to them.
0
5
They rejected the truth when it came to them. News of what they made fun of will come to them.
0
6
Have they not seen how many generations we have destroyed before them? We made them firmer than youMP in the earth. We sent abundant rain on them from the sky, and made rivers flow underneath them. Then we destroyed them because of their sins, and raised up another generation in their place.
0
7
If we had revealed a book written on paper to youMS and they had touched it with their hands, the disbelievers would have said, “This is nothing but clear magic.”
0
8
They said, “If only an angel had descended on him.” If we had sent down an angel, the matter would have been decided. Then they would not have been given more time.
0
9
If we had made him an angel, we would have then made him a man, and we would have further obscured what was already obscure to them.
0
10
Messengers before youMS were mocked, and those who ridiculed them were surrounded by what they had made fun of.
0
11
SayMS, “WalkMP through the land and see the punishment of rejecters.
0
12
Say,MS “Who owns everything in the heavens and the earth?” SayMS, “It is Allah’s, He has decreed mercy for himself, to gather youMP on the day of resurrection about which there is no doubt. Those who lose their souls do not believe.
0
13
7A4 Everything that lives in the night and the day is his. He hears all and knows all.”
0
14
SayMS, “Shall I take a protector other than Allah, the creator of the heavens and the earth? He feeds and is not fed.” SayMS, “I was commanded to be the first one to submit: Do not beMS a polytheist.”
0
15
SayMS, “I fear the torment of a great day if I disobey my Lord.”
0
16
He from whom it is averted on that day has been shown mercy. That is the clear victory.
0
17
If Allah touches youMS with harm, he is the only one who removes it. If he touches youMS with good, he can do anything.
0
18
He is victorious over his servants. He is wise and aware.
0
19
SayMS, “What is the greatest testimony?” SayMS, “Allah is witness between me and youMP, and this recitation has been inspired to me so I can warn youMP and those it reaches with it. Do youMP testify that there are other gods in addition to Allah?” SayMS, “I do not.” SayMS, “He is one god, and I am innocent of the other gods you believe in.”
0
20
Those whom we gave the book know it as they know their children. Those who lose their souls do not believe.
0
21
Who is more wicked than him who invents a lie about Allah or rejects his signs? The wicked  do not prosper.
0
22
On the day when we gather them all, we will say to the idolaters, “Where are those other supposed gods?”
0
23
Their temptation will only be that they will say, “[We swear] by Allah our Lord, we were not idolaters.”
0
24
LookMS how they lied against themselves, and how what they invented went astray from them.
0
25
Some of them listen to youMS and we put veils over their hearts lest they understand, and deafness in their ears. Even if they see  every sign, they will not believe. Even if they come to youMS arguing with youMS, disbelievers will say, “This is nothing but old fables.”
0
26
They forbid it and go away from it. They destroy only themselves, though they do not realize it.
0
27
If youMS could see them when they are made to stand over hellfire! They will say, “We wish that we were returned. We would not reject our Lord’s signs, but would believe.”
0
28
What they had hid was made obvious to them. If they had been returned, they would have gone back to what they were forbidden. They are liars.
0
29
They said, “Our earthly lives are everything. We will not be resurrected.”
0
30
If youMS could see them when they are made to stand before their Lord! He said, “Is this not the truth?” They said, “[We swear] by our Lord, yes.” He said, “Taste torment because of what youMP disbelieved in.”
0
31
Those who disbelieve that they will meet Allah are lost. Even when the hour comes upon them, they will say, “Alas to us because of what we neglected.” They will carry their burdens on their backs. Are their burdens not evil?
0
32
This life is only playing and amusement. The hereafter is better for the godly. Do youMP not comprehend?
0
33
We know that what they said saddens youMS. They do not reject youMS, but the wicked deny Allah’s signs.
0
34
Messengers before youMS were rejected, and they endured the rejection and harm they suffered, until our salvation came. There is no substituting Allah’s words. News of the messengers has come to youMS.
0
35
If their turning away is a big issue to youMS, if youMS can, seekMS out a tunnel in the earth or a ladder in the sky and bring them a sign. If Allah had willed, he would have gathered them in guidance. Do not beMS ignorant.
0
36
7B1 Those who hear will respond and Allah will resurrect the dead, and they will be returned to him.
0
37
They said, “If only a sign had been revealed to him from his Lord!” SayMS, “Allah can reveal a sign,” but most of them do not know.
0
38
We neglected nothing in the book regarding living creatures on the earth or birds that fly with their wings, which were nations like you.MP They will be gathered to their Lord.
0
39
Those who reject our signs are deaf and dumb in the darkness. Allah leads whoever he wills astray and puts whoever he wills on a straight path.
0
40
SayMS, “What do youMP think? When Allah’s torment or the hour comes to youMP, will youMP pray to gods other than Allah, if youMP are telling the truth?”
0
41
He is the one youMP will pray to, and he removes what youMP pray to if he wills. YouMP will forget yourMP other gods.
0
42
We sent to nations before youMS and afflicted them with misfortune and adversity, so that they might be humbled.
0
43
If they had only supplicated when our misfortune came to them! But their hearts were hardened and Satan made their deeds seem fair to them.
0
44
When they forgot what they were reminded of, we opened up doors of everything for them, so that they rejoiced at what they were brought. Then we took them suddenly, and they despaired.
0
45
The ends of the wicked people were cut off. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe.
0
46
SayMS, “What do youMP think, if Allah takes yourMP hearing and sight and seals yourMP hearts, what god besides Allah can give it [back] to youMP? Look how we explain the signs, and then they turn aside.
0
47
What do youMS think,if Allah’s torment comes upon youMP suddenly or obviously? Are any besides wicked people destroyed?
0
48
We send messengers only as bearers of good news and warners. Whoever believes and does good will not fear or grieve.
0
49
Torment will touch those who reject our signs for their unbelief.
0
50
SayMS, “I do not tell youMP: I own Allah’s storehouses. Nor do I know the unseen. I do not tell youMP: I am an angel. I follow only what is inspired to me.” SayMS, “Are the blind and the sighted equal? Do youMP not consider this?”
0
51
UseMS it to warn those who fear being gathered to their Lord: they have no protector or intercessor besides him, so let them be godfearing.
0
52
Do not expelMS those who pray to their Lord early in the morning and at night, desiring his face. YouMS are not at all responsible to reckon with them, nor are they responsible to reckon with youMS for anything. If youMP expel them, youMP are wicked.
0
53
Thus we tempted some of them by others, to say, “Are they the ones among us to whom Allah has given?” Does Allah not know best who gives thanks?
0
54
If believers in our signs come to youMS, say “Peace be upon youMP.” YourMP Lord has prescribed mercy for himself, so that if any of youMP does evil ignorantly, then repents and does good, Allah is forgiving and merciful.
0
55
Thus we explain the signs, so youMS can clarify the path of wrongdoers.
0
56
SayMS, “I have been forbidden to worship those youMP pray to besides Allah.” SayMS, “I do not follow yourMP desires, or else I would go astray and not be guided.”
0
57
SayMS, “I [trust in] a miracle from my Lord, and youMP have rejected him. I cannot bring about what youMP are in a hurry for. Judgment is Allah’s. He relates the truth and explains best.
0
58
SayMS, “If I could do what youMP are in a hurry for, the matter would have been judged between me and youMP. Allah well knows the wicked.
0
59
7B2 He has the keys of the unseen. No one but he knows it. He knows what is on land and sea. Not even a leaf falls that he does not know about. Every seed in the dark places of the earth, whether green or dry, is [written] in a clear book.
0
60
He makes youMP die at night, and he knows what youMP do in the daytime. Then he resurrects youMP in it so that the stated period of time would be completed. Then youMP will return to him, and he will tell youMP yourMP deeds.
0
61
He is victorious over his servants, and sends protectors over youMP, so that when one of youMP approaches death, our messengers make him die. They are not negligent.
0
62
Then they were returned to Allah, their true Master. Is judgment not his? He is the swiftest in reckoning.
0
63
SayMS, “Who will rescue youMP from the darkness of land and sea?” YouMP pray to him humbly and in secret: “If he rescues us from this, we will definitely give thanks.”
0
64
SayMS, “Allah will rescue youMP from it, and from every distress, and then youMP will worship other gods.
0
65
SayMS, “He can send torment upon youMP from above youMP, or beneath yourMP feet, or he can confuse youMP in sects and make some of youMP taste the misery of others. See how we explain signs so that they may understand.
0
66
*** YourMS people rejected him, though he is the truth. SayMS, “I am not responsible for youMP.”
0
67
*** For every message, there is a place where it settles, and youMP will know.
0
68
If youMS see those who engage in [discussing] our signs, turn away from them until they engage in another topic. Satan will definitely make youMS forget, so do not sit with wicked people after the reminder.
0
69
Those who are godly are not responsible for their reckoning at all. [That is] a reminder, so that they may be godly.
0
70
LeaveMS those who take their religion as a sport and amusement. This world has deceived them. RemindMS [them] with it that souls will be turned over to perdition, as they deserve. They will have no helper or intercessor besides Allah. Though they pay any ransom, it will not be accepted from them. They are the ones delivered to perdition, as they deserve. They will drink boiling water and have painful torment for their disbelief.
0
71
SayMS, “Shall we pray to something besides Allah? It cannot help us or harm us, and we will be turned back on our heels after Allah guided us, like one who was infatuated with devils, distracted on the ground. His companions call him to guidance: Come to us. SayMS, “Allah’s guidance is [real] guidance. We were commanded to submit to the Lord of the universe,
0
72
to performMP prayers, and to fearMP him. YouMP will be gathered to him.
0
73
*** He created the heavens and the earth in truth. When he says, “Be,” it will be. His saying is true, and the kingdom is his. On the day the trumpet is blown, [he] knows the unseen and the seen. He is wise and aware.
0
74
7B3 *** When Ibrahim told his father, Azar, “Do youMS take idols for gods? I think youMS and yourMS people are clearly led astray.”
0
75
Thus we showed Ibrahim the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, so that he would be certain.
0
76
When night covered him, he saw a planet. He said, “This is my Lord.” When it set, he said, “I do not like things that set.”
0
77
When he saw the moon rising, he said, “This is my Lord.” When it set, he said, “If my Lord does not guide me, I will be one of the people who have gone astray.”
0
78
When he saw the sun rising, he said, “This is my Lord. It is bigger.” When it set, he said, “My people, I am innocent of the gods youMP worship.
0
79
I have set my face to the creator of the heavens and the earth as a monotheist. I am not a polytheist.”
0
80
His people disputed with him. He said, “Do youMP dispute with me about Allah, who has guided me? I do not fear the gods youMP worship instead of him, unless my Lord wills it. My Lord’s knowledge covers everything. Do youMP not remember?
0
81
How should I fear the gods youMP worship? YouMP do not fear worshiping gods other than Allah that he has not authorized for youMP. Which of the partiesD is more worthy of protection, if youMP know?
0
82
Believers who do not cloak their faith with wickedness are secure and guided.
0
83
This is the argument that we gave Ibrahim for his people. We raise in rank those we will. YourMS Lord is wise and all-knowing.
0
84
We gave him Ishaq and Yaqub, we guided them all. We guided Nuh before them, and of his seed, Dawud, Sulayman, Ayyub, Yusuf, Musa, and Harun. Thus we reward the generous.
0
85
Also, Zakariyya, Yahya, Isa, and Ilyas. All of them were righteous.
0
86
Also, Ismail, Alyasa, Yunus, and Lut. We preferred each over [the rest of] mankind.
0
87
Some of their ancestors, descendants, and brothers we chose and guided on the straight path.
0
88
That is Allah’s guidance. He guides the servants he wills with it. If they had been idolaters, their works would have perished.
0
89
Those are the ones we gave the book, judgment, and prophethood. If they disbelieve in it, we will entrust it to other people who are not disbelievers.
0
90
Allah guided them, so followMS their guidance. SayMS, “I do not ask youMP for payment. It is only a reminder to mankind.”
0
91
They did not give Allah the honor he deserves, for they said, “Allah has not revealed anything to men.” SayMS, “Who revealed the book which Musa brought as light and guidance to men? YouMP make it sheets of paper to show off, and youMP hide much, and were taught much that neither youMP nor yourMP fathers knew.” SayMS, “Allah.” Then let them play in their discussions.
0
92
This is a blessed book we revealed, confirming what is in in his possession. Warn the mother of villages and those around it. Believers in the hereafter believe in him and keep doing their prayers.
0
93
Who is more wicked than him who invents lies about Allah or says, “I was inspired,” when he was not inspired at all, or him who says, “I will reveal something similar to what Allah revealed.” If only youMS could see the wicked as they suffer the pangs of death, when the angels stretch out their hands: “ExpelMP yourMP souls. Today youMP will be paid back with contemptuous torment for yourMP false sayings about Allah. YouMP were arrogant toward his signs.
0
94
YouMP have come to us individually, as we created youMP the first time, and youMP left what we bestowed on youMP behind yourMP backs. We do not see yourMP intercessors with youMP, those whom youMP claimed were yourMP partners. What youMP claimed has been cut off from youMP, and gone astray from youMP.
0
95
7B4 Allah splits the seed and the date pit. He brings forth the living from among the dead and brings forth the dead from among the living. That is Allah. How can youMP lie?
0
96
He makes the morning break, makes the night quiet, and [makes] the sun and moon a reckoning. This is decreed by the strong, all-knowing one.
0
97
He makes stars to guide youMP in the darkness of land and seas. We have explained our signs to people who know.
0
98
He made youMP from one soul, as a fixed dwelling and storehouse. We have explained our signs to people who understand.
0
99
He sent rain down from the sky, and with it we brought forth all kinds of plants. By it we brought forth green herbs. By it, we bring forth heaps of seeds. From the palm buds, date clusters hanging low, and gardens of grapes, olives, and pomegranates, both similar and dissimilar. Look at their fruit when it comes forth and ripens. Those are signs for people who believe.
0
100
They made jinns equal to Allah, though he created them, and falsely claim he has sons and daughters, though they do not know. May he be glorified and exalted above what they describe.
0
101
He is the creator of the heavens and the earth. How could he have a boy, since he has no girlfriend? He created everything, and knows everything.
0
102
He is Allah, yourMP Lord. He is the only god, the creator of everything. So worship him. He is in charge of all things.
0
103
No eye sees him, but he sees them. He is kind and aware.
0
104
Insights from yourMP Lord have come to youMP.He who sees benefits himself, and he who is blind harms himself. I am not yourMP keeper.
0
105
Thus we explain signs, so they will say, “YouMS have studied,” and so we will explain them to people who know.
0
106
FollowMS what was inspired to youMS by your Lord. He is the only god. TurnMS away from idolaters.
0
107
*** If Allah had willed, they would not have been idolaters, and we would not have made youMS their keeper. YouMS are not responsible for them.
0
108
*** Do not swearMP at those who pray to other gods beside Allah, lest they swear at Allah maliciously and unknowingly. Thus we made every nation’s works seem pleasing to them. Then they will return to their Lord, who will tell them what they did.
0
109
They swear strong oaths by Allah that if a sign comes to them, they will believe in it. SayMS, “The signs are Allah's.” What will make youMP realize that if one comes, they will not believe.
0
110
We turn over their hearts and their sight, just as they have not believed in him the first time. We leave them to wander about in their transgression.
0
111
8A1 If we had sent angels down on them, if the dead had spoken to them, and if we had gathered everything facing against them, they would not have believed except if Allah had willed. But most of them are ignorant.
0
112
Thus we made an enemy for every prophet: devils among men and jinns, who inspire each other with fancy sayings to tempt. If yourMS Lord had not willed it, they would not have done so. Leave them and their lies.
0
113
Let the hearts of those who do not believe in the hereafter listen and please him, and let them continue to commit the same sins.
0
114
Do I want a judge other than Allah? He revealed the book to youMP in detail. Those whom we gave the book know that it is revealed from yourMS Lord in truth. Do not doubt.
0
115
And the word of yourMS Lord was fulfilled in truth and justice. There is no substituting his words, and he hears all and knows all.
0
116
If youMS obey most of those on earth, they will cause youMS to go astray from Allah’s path. They are following mere conjecture. They merely guess.
0
117
YourMS Lord knows best who has gone astray from his path, and he knows best those who are guided.
0
118
So eatMP what has had Allah’s name mentioned over it, if youMP believe Allah’s signs.
0
119
What is wrong with youMP? Why do youMP not eat what has had Allah’s name mentioned over it? He has explained to youMP what he has forbidden to youMP except in cases of necessity. Many unknowingly lead others astray by their desires. YourMS Lord knows best who are the wicked.
0
120
ForsakeMP both obvious and hidden guilt. Those who are guilty will be repaid, as they deserve.
0
121
Do not eat what has not had Allah’s name mentioned over it. It is unbelief. Devils inspire their supporters to dispute with youMP. If youMP obey them, youMP are idolaters.
0
122
*** Is someone who was dead, whom we made alive and gave light to walk among people, like someone still in darkness? Thus we made disbelievers’ works seem pleasing to them.
0
123
Thus we appointed major wrongdoers in every village to plot in it. They plot only against themselves, and they do not realize it.
0
124
If a sign comes to them, they say, “We will not believe until we receive something like Allah’s messengers brought.” Allah knows best where to put his message. Vileness before Allah will afflict wrongdoers, and harsh torment for their plots.
0
125
If Allah wants to guide someone, he opens his heart to submit, and if he wants to lead someone astray, he tightens and narrows his heart, as if he were ascending in the sky. Thus Allah puts an abomination on those who do not believe.
0
126
This is yourMS Lord’s straight path. We explain our signs to people who remember.
0
127
8A2 They will have the house of peace with their Lord. He is their protector in what they did.
0
128
On the day he gathers them all, legion of jinns, you have influenced mankind a lot. Their helpers among people said, “Our Lord, we have enjoyed each other. We have reached the end of our lives as youMS determined for us.” He said, “YourMP dwelling is hellfire, where youMP will be forever, except as Allah wills. YourMS Lord is wise and all-knowing.
0
129
Thus we set some of the wicked over others, as they deserve.
0
130
Legion of jinns and men, have messengers from among youMP not come to youMP, relating our signs and warning youMP of this day of meeting? They said, “We testify against ourselves. The world enticed us.” They testified against themselves that they were disbelievers.
0
131
That is because yourMS Lord did not wickedly destroy the villages while their people were unaware.
0
132
All have their own degree of what they have done. YourMS Lord is aware of what they do.
0
133
YourMS Lord is self-sufficient and merciful. If he wills, he does away with youMP and makes whom he wants yourMP successors, just as he established youMP from the seed of other people.
0
134
What youMP have been promised is coming. YouMP cannot stop it.
0
135
Say,MS “My people, do according to yourMP situation. I am doing so, and youMP will know who has the reward of heaven.” The wicked do not prosper.
0
136
They set aside a portion of their fields and cattle, and claim, “This is for Allah, and this is for our partners.” Their partners’ portion does not reach Allah, and what was Allah’s goes to their partners. Their judgment is evil.
0
137
Their partners make many idolaters pleased with killing their children, in order to destroy them and obscure their religion to them. If Allah had willed, they would not have done it, so let them and their lies alone.
0
138
They claim, “These cattle and fields are forbidden as food. None may eat them unless we wish it.” The backs of the cattle are forbidden, and they do not mention Allah’s name over them. They lie to him, and he will punish them for their lies.
0
139
They said, “What is in the wombs of these cattle is specifically for our men and it is forbidden to our women.” If it is dead, they share it. He will punish them for their description. He is wise and all-knowing.
0
140
Those who killed their children are lost, foolish and unknowing. They have forbidden what Allah provided, lying to Allah. They have gone astray, and were not guided.
0
141
8A3 *** He planted trellised and untrellised gardens, palm trees, and differing plants for food: olives, pomegranates, similar yet dissimilar. Eat their fruit when it ripens, and pay for it on harvest day. Do not waste it. He does not love wasters.
0
142
Some cattle are beasts of burden or for slaughter. Eat what Allah has provided youMP, and do not follow Satan’s steps; he is yourMP clear enemy.
0
143
Eight pair: two of sheep, and two of goats. SayMS, “Are the two males forbidden or the two females? Or what the two females bear in their wombs? TellMP me clearly, if youMP are telling the truth.”
0
144
Two camels and two oxen. SayMS, “Are the two males forbidden or the two females? Or what the two females bear in their wombs? Were youMP witnesses when Allah commanded youMP about this? Who is more wicked than him who invents lies about Allah to lead people without knowledge astray? Allah does not guide wicked people.
0
145
SayMS, “I find in what has been inspired to me no food that is forbidden to eat except for carcasses, poured out blood, or pork, which is an abomination, or meat slaughtered in the name of other gods in unbelief. If someone is desperate, unwillingly and unintentionally, Allah is forgiving and merciful.
0
146
We have forbidden everything with claws to the Jews, as well as the fat of the oxen and sheep, except for on their backs or intestines, or what is mixed with bone. That is because we paid them back for their wrongdoing, and we are telling the truth.
0
147
If they reject youMS, say, “YourMP Lord’s mercy is broad, and his vengeance will not be turned back from people who do wrong.
0
148
*** Idolaters will say, “If Allah had willed, we and our ancestors would not have been idolaters, and we would not have forbidden anything. This is how those before them rejected, so they tasted our vengeance.” SayMS, “If youMP know anything, show us. YouMP are following mere conjecture. YouMP merely guess.”
0
149
SayMS, “Allah’s argument is conclusive. If he had willed, he would have guided youMP all.”
0
150
SayMS, “BringMP witnesses who will testify that Allah forbade this. If they testify, do not testifyMS with them. Do not followMS the desires of those who reject our signs and those who do not believe in the hereafter, as they make other gods equal to their Lord.
0
151
8A4 SayMS, “ComeMP and I will read what yourMP Lord has forbidden for youMP: do not have other gods beside him, honor parents, do not kill your children because of poverty – we provide for youMP and them, – stay away from promiscuity, whether it is obvious or hidden, and do not kill someone, which Allah has forbidden, except in truth. He commanded youMP that, so that youMP may comprehend.
0
152
Stay away from an orphan’s money, except fairly, until he reaches adulthood, and have just weights and balances. We never give anyone more than he can handle. If youMP say something, be just about it, even in the case of a relative. Keep Allah’s covenant. This is what he has commanded youMP, so that youMP may remember.
0
153
This is my straight path, so follow it, and do not follow [other] paths, lest youMP scatter from his path. He commanded youMP that, so that youMP may be godly.
0
154
Then we gave Musa the book, complete for him who does good, an explanation of  everything, guidance, and mercy, so that they may believe in a meeting with their Lord.
0
155
And this is a blessed book which we revealed, so followMP it and be godly, so that youMP may receive mercy,
0
156
lest youMP say, “The book was revealed to two groups before us and we were unaware of their studying,”
0
157
or say, “If the book had been revealed to us, we would have been better guided than they,” since a miracle, guidance, and mercy has come to youMP from yourMP Lord. Who is more wicked than one who rejects Allah’s signs, and turns from them? We will repay those who turn from our signs with awful torment because of their turning away.
0
158
Do they expect that the angels will come to them, or that yourMS Lord will come, or that some of yourMS Lord’s signs will come? When some of yourMS Lord’s signs come, faith will not help them since they did not believe beforehand or gain any good from their faith. SayMS, “Wait. We are waiting.”
0
159
YouMS are not one of those who cause divisions and sects in their religion at all. Their issue is with Allah, and he will tell them what they did.
0
160
He who does a good deed will be credited ten times, and he who does a bad deed will only be punished once. They will not be wronged.
0
161
SayMS, “My Lord has guided me to a straight path, a right religion, the spiritual path of Ibrahim, monotheism. He was not a polytheist.
