Al-Najm

- 53 -

1
In the name of Allah, the most gracious and merciful. [I swear] by the star when it sets,
0
2
yourMP companionMS has not gone astray or been beguiled,
0
3
nor does he speak out of desire.
0
4
It is only inspiration,
0
5
taught by the one mighty in power,
0
6
who has understanding. So he stood straight
0
7
while on the upper horizons.
0
8
Then he approached and came down,
0
9
within two bow-shots or closer.
0
10
Then he inspired his servant.
0

The heart did not lie about what it saw.
0
12

0
13
He saw him on a second descent,
0
14

0
15
That is where the heavenly garden of refuge is,
0
16
when the shade covered the lotus tree.
0
17
His sight did not become dim or wander.
0
18
He saw some of his Lord’s greatest signs.
0
19
Have youMP seen Al-Lat and Al-Uzza,
0
20

0
21

0
23
They are only names youMP and yourMP ancestors have called them. Allah has not granted them any authority. They only follow guesses and their souls' desire. Their Lord has given them guidance.
0
24
Or do people have what they want?
0
25
The hereafter and the first world are Allah's.
0
26

0
27
Those who do not believe in the hereafter give angels female names.

0
33
Have youMP seen him who turns away,
0
34
gives little, and is stingy?
0
35
Does he know the unseen when he sees?
0
36
Or has he not been told about what is in the books of Musa
0
37
and Ibrahim, who fully paid his debt:
0
38
“No one will bear the burden of another,”
0
39
“A man gets only what he strives for,”
0
40
and “His striving will be seen.”?
0
41
Then he will be rewarded with a more complete reward.
0
42
The end is [going] to yourMP Lord.

0
