Al-Nisa’

- 4 -

1
4B3 In the name of Allah, the most gracious and merciful. People, fear yourMP Lord who created youMP from one soul, then from that created its spouse and from themD brought forth many men and women. Fear Allah, by whom youMP ask each other, as well as those who bore you. Allah watches over youMP.
0
2
Give the orphans their money and do not trade bad for good, nor take their money as yourMP money. That is a great travesty.
0
3
*** If youMP fear that youMP will not be just toward the orphans, marry the women youMP think best, a pair or three or four. But if youMP fear youMP will not be just to them, then just one, or the slave girls youMP own. This is better to avoid oppression.
0
4
*** Give women theirFP bride-price as a gift. If theyFP freely give youMP back any of it, takeMP it as a blessing and health to youMP.
0
5
Do not giveMP foolsMP the money  Allah gave youMP for yourMP livelihood. Rather, provideMP for themMP with it, clotheMP themMP, and speakMP kindly to them.
0
6
TestMP the orphans until theyMP reach marriage. If youMP sense they are mature, payMP them theirMP money. Do not spendMP it wastefully or hastily before they grow up. The rich should refrain from doing anything wrong. The poor should spend it kindly. If youMP pay them their money, doMP it in front of witnesses. Allah is a sufficent reckoner.
0
7
Both men and women have shares in what their parents and relatives leave behind, whether little or much. It is a mandatory share.
0
8
If the distribution is attended by relatives, orphans, and the needy, provide for them with it, and speakMP kindly to them.
0
9
Let those who have weak descendants for whom they fear beware. Let them fear Allah and speak appropriately.
0
10
Those who wickedly take orphans’ money shall take fire into their bellies and be roasted in a burning fire.
0
11
This is what Allah commands concerning yourMP children: Each son shall inherit as much as two daughters. If there are more than two women, they shall have two-thirds of what he left. If there is only one, then she inherits half. His parents shall each get one-sixth if he has a son. If he does not have a son and his parents inherit from him, his mother shall get a third. But if he has brothers, his mother shall get a sixth after deducting bequests and debts. YouMP do not know whether yourMP parents or yourMP children will be closer and more beneficial to youMP. This is Allah’s ordinance. Allah is all-knowing and wise.
0
12
4B4 *** YouMP are entitled to half of what yourMP wives leave if theyFP do not have a son. If theyFP have a son, youMP inherit a quarter of what theyFP left behind after deducting bequests and debts. TheyFP get a quarter of what youMP leave behind if theyFP do not have a son. If youMP have a son, theyFP get an eighth of what youMP left behind after deducting bequests and debts. If a man or a woman inherits from a distant relative, and there is a brother or sister, theyD will each get a sixth. If there are more than that, theyMP shall share a third, after deducting bequests and debts, without harming [anyone]; it is Allah’s commandment. Allah is all-knowing and gentle.
0
13
These are Allah’s limits. Allah will cause him who obeys Allah and his messenger to enter heavenly gardens with flowing rivers underneath where they will remain forever. That is the great victory.
0
14
If anyone disobeys Allah and his messenger and transgresses his limits, Allah will make him enter hellfire forever, and he will have shameful torment.
0
15
*** As for yourMP women who commit promiscuity, bring four of youMP as witnesses against themFP. If they witness [against them], keep themFP in their houses until theyFP die or Allah provides a way [out] for themFP.
0
16
As for the twoMD who commit it, harmMP themD, and if theyD repent and makeD amends, turn awayMP from themD. Allah will accept repentance and is merciful.
0
17
Allah is obliged to accept the repentance of those who unknowingly do evil and then repent soon. Allah will accept their repentance. Allah is all-knowing and wise.
0
18
Repentance is not for those who do bad deeds, and saying when approaching death, “Now I repent.” Nor is it for those who die in their disbelief. We have prepared painful torment for them.
0
19
Believers, it is not lawful for youMP to inherit women against their will. DoMP not make it difficult for themFP so youMP can cheat themFP out of part of what youMP gave themFP, except if theyFP commit promiscuity openly. LiveMP with themFP kindly. If youMP hate themFP, you might hate something that Allah will make very good.
0
20
If youMP want to trade one wife for another, though youMP have given the first a huge bride price, do not take MPany of it back. Would youMP take it back scandalously and with clear guilt?
0
21
How could youMP take it back when youMP have been intimate with each other and theyFP have made a solemn covenant with youMP?
0
22
From now on, do not marryMP women your fathers have married. It is promiscuity, hateful, and a bad path.
0
23
It is forbidden for youMP [to marry] yourMP mothers, daughters, sisters, paternal and maternal aunts, daughters of your brothers or sisters, wet nurses who nursed you and girls they have nursed, mothers-in-law, step-daughters in your care if youMP have consumated marriage with their mothers (if youMP have not consumated the marriage, they are allowed), and daughters-in-law if they are married to yourMP biological sons. Do not marry sisters from now on - Allah is forgiving and merciful -
0
24
5A1nor married women, except if they are yourMP slaves. That is Allah’s command to you. Besides that, youMP are permitted to use yourMP money to get marriedMP rather than havingMP sex with a prostitute. Give the wives theirFP wages for what youMP have enjoyed with themFP. This is a regulation. Anything that youMP agree upon after the regulation is allowed. Allah is all-knowing and wise.
0
25
*** Those of youMP who are not able to marry believingFP wives [should marry] believingFP slave girls youMP own. Allah knows yourMP faith, one and the other, so marry themFP with the permission of theirFP families and give themFP theirFP wages kindly, as wives, and not as prostitutes or mistresses. When theyFP are married, if theyFP commit promiscuity, theyFP will get half the torment of married [free] women. This is for those of youMP who fear hardship. But enduring is better for youMP. Allah is forgiving and merciful.
0
26
Allah wants to show youMP and guide youMP by the traditions of those before youMP, and to accept yourMP repentance. Allah is all-knowing and wise.
0
27
*** Allah wants to accept yourMP repentance, but those who want to follow their passions veer far from the path.
0
28
Allah wants to lighten matters for youMP, and man was created weak.
0
29
Believers, do not waste yourMP money, except if it is voluntary business, and do not kill yourselves. Allah is merciful to youMP.
0
30
We will roast in hellfire whoever does such things in enmity and wickedness. That is easy for Allah.
0
31
If youMP avoid the serious sins youMP have been warned not to do, we will expiate yourMP bad deeds from youMP and give youMP a generous entry.
0
32
Do not covet what Allah has given one over another. Men and women both have a portion of what they have earned. Ask Allah by his grace. Allah knows everything.
0
33
For everything left behind by parents and relatives we have appointed heirs. As for you who have sworn a contract, give them their portion. Allah is witness of everything.
0
34
Men are guardians of women, with what Allah has preferred some of them over others with, and as they donated their money. Righteous women are devout and protect what is unseen as Allah protects it. Admonish thoseFP youMP fear will cheat, then desertMP them on theirFP beds, and then leaveMP themFP. If theyFP obey youMP, do not wish for a way against themFP. Allah is most high and great.
0
35
If youMP fear a split between themD, send an arbiter from his family and an arbiter from her family. If theyD want to reconcile, Allah will make themD agree. Allah is all-knowing and aware.
0
36
5A2 WorshipMP Allah and do not worshipMP any other god beside him. Be charitable to your parents, your relatives, orphans, the needy, neighboring relatives, neighbors who are strangers, close friends, travelers, and yourMP slaves. Allah does not love the proud and boastful,
0
37
those who are miserly, and who command others to be miserly, who hide what Allah has given them out of his grace. We have prepared shameful torment for disbelievers
0
38
and those who donate their money to be seen by people and do not believe in Allah or the last day. Satan is a bad partner to have.
0
39
What harm is it to them if they believe in Allah and the last day and donate out of what Allah has provided them? Allah knows about them.
0
40
Allah does not cheat by so much as a speck. If it is a good deed, he himself multiplies it and gives a great reward.
0
41
What if we brought a witness from every nation, and we brought youMS against them as a witness?
0
42
On that day, disbelievers who disobeyed the messenger will wish that the earth would flatten them. They do not conceal a saying from Allah.
0
43
Believers, do not go near prayers when youMP are drunk, until youMP know what youMP are saying, nor when ritually unclean until you have washed, unless you are traveling. If youMP are sick or traveling or have gone to the bathroom or have had sex with women and do not find water, wash with pure sand and wipe your faces and hands. Allah is pardoning and forgiving.
0
44
*** Have youMS not seen that those who were given a portion of the book buy error? They want youMP to go astray from the path.
0
45
*** Allah knows yourMP enemies well, and Allah is a sufficient protector. He is a sufficient savior.
0
46
Some Jews take words out of their context and say: “We heard and disobeyed; hearMS without being heard and pay attention to us.” They distort with their tongues and slander religion. If they had said: “We heard and obeyed; hearMS and look at us,” it would have been better and more upright for them. Allah has damned them for their disbelief, for few of them believe.
0
47
YouMP who received the book, believeMP in what we have revealed, confirming what youMP have, before we obliterate faces and turn them backwards, or damn them as we damned the people of the sabbath, and Allah’s command is done.
0
48
Allah does not forgive those who believe in other gods, but he forgives those he wills for sins less serious than that. He who believes in other gods has invented serious guilt.
0
49
Do youMS not see those who purify themselves? Allah purifies those he wills, and they will not be wronged at all.
0
50
SeeMS how they invent lies about Allah? That is clearly a sin.
0
51
Have youMS not seen those who were given a portion of the book believing in idols and false gods? They say of disbelievers, “They are more rightly guided than the believers.”
0
52
Those are the ones Allah has damned, and youMS will find no savior for those Allah damns.
0
53
Or do they share the kingdom? They do not give people anything.
0
54
Or do they envy people because of Allah's gifts to them by his grace? We gave the family of Ibrahim the book and wisdom and we gave them a great kingdom.
0
55
Some of them believe in it, and others block it. Hell is a sufficient burning fire for them.
0
56
We will roast those who disbelieve in our signs in hellfire. As soon as their skins mature, we will exchange them with other skins so that they taste torment. Allah is strong and wise.
0
57
We will make those who believe and do righteous deeds enter heavenly gardens with flowing rivers underneath. They will be in it forever and ever. In them they will have purified kinds and we will bring them into the deep shade.
0
58
5A3 Allah commands youMP to restore pledges to their owners, and if youMP judge between people, to judge justly. Allah admonishes youMP well. Allah hears all and sees all.
0
59
Believers, obey Allah and obey the messenger and yourMP rulers. If youMP dispute about anything, takeMP it to Allah and the messenger, if youMP believe in Allah and the last day. That is better, and a better explanation.
0
60
Have youMS not seen those who claim they believe in what was revealed to youMS and what was revealed before youMS? They want to be ruled by false gods and they were commanded to disbelieve in them. Satan wants to lead them far astray.
0
61
When they are told: “Come to what Allah revealed and to the messenger,” youMS see the hypocrites blocking them from youMS.
0
62
What if they have a disaster because of what they did, and they come to youMS swearing by Allah, “We wanted only goodness and success.”
0
63
Allah knows what is in their hearts, so turn asideMS from them and admonish them, and sayMS an eloquent saying to them about themselves.
0
64
Every messenger we sent was to be obeyed by Allah’s permission. If they had come to youMS when they had wronged themselves and asked Allah’s forgiveness, and the messenger had asked for their forgiveness, they would have found that Allah accepts repentance and is merciful.
0
65
No, by yourMS Lord, they will not believe until they ask for yourMS judgment regarding their controversy. Then they will find no wrong in yourMS judgment, and they will surrender.
0
66
If we had written for them, “Kill yourselves,” or “LeaveMP yourMP homes,” only a few of them would have done it. If they had done what they were admonished to do, it would have been better and firmer for them.
0
67
Thus we would have given them a great reward from us
0
68
and guided them on a straight path.
0
69
Those who obey Allah and his messenger are with those whom Allah has blessed – the prophets, the righteous, martyrs, and the good. Those are good companions.
0
70
That is Allah’s grace. Allah is totally all-knowing.
0
71
Believers, be careful and go out in groups or all together.
0
72
One of youMP will certainly delay, so if a catastrophe happens to youMP, he will say, “Allah has blessed me, because I was not a witness with them.”
0
73
If youMP receive Allah’s grace, he will say, as if there is no love between youMP and him, “I wish I had been with them, so I could [also] be greatly victorious.”
0
74
5A4 So let those who sell the hereafter for this life fight in Allah’s path. We will greatly reward those who fight in Allah’s path, whether they are killed or victorious.
0
75
Why do youMP not fight in Allah’s path, since the weak men and women and children say, “Our Lord, get us out of this village whose people are wicked and give us a helper from yourselfMS. Give us a savior from yourselfMS.
0
76
The believers fight in Allah’s path, and the disbelievers fight in the path of false gods. So fight Satan’s helpers. Satan’s trap is weak.
0
77
Have youMS not seen those who were told, “Keep yourMP hands back, perform the prayers, and pay the poor-tax.” When they were appointed to fight, a group of them feared men at least as much as they feared Allah, and said, “Our Lord, why did youMS appoint us to fight? Could youMS not postpone it until a bit later?” SayMS, “The pleasures of the world are few, and the hereafter is better for those who are godly. YouMP will not be wronged at all.
0
78
, Death will reach youMP wherever youMP are, even in a high tower.” If goodness happens to them, they say, “This is from Allah,” and if something bad happens to them, they say, “This is from youMS.” SayMS, “Everything is from Allah.” What is wrong with those people? They barely understand a saying.
0
79
The goodness that happens to youMS is from Allah, and the bad that happens to youMS is from yourselfMS. We sent youMS as a messenger to people, and Allah is a sufficent witness.
0
80
Whoever obeys the messenger obeys Allah, and we have not sent youMS to watch over those who turn away.
0
81
They say, “We will obey.” And if they go forth from youMS, a group of them plots against yourMS saying. Allah records what they plot, so turn away from them and trust Allah. Allah is a sufficent attorney.
0
82
Do they not reflect on the Qur’an? If it were not from Allah, they would have found many differences.
0
83
If a matter of safety or fear comes to them, they broadcast it. If they had sent it back to the messenger or those responsible among them, those who discover the truth among them would have known it. If not for Allah’s grace and mercy to youMP, most of youMP would have followed Satan.
0
84
FightMS in Allah’s path. Do not compelMS anyone but yourselfMS. UrgeMS the believers. Allah may stop the vengeance of the disbelievers. Allah is more vengeful and punishing.
0
85
He who intercedes well for it will have a portion of it, and he who intercedes badly it will have a share of it. Allah will nourish everything.
0
86
If youMP are greeted, greetMP them back with a better greeting, or returnMP the same one. Allah reckons everything.
0
87
Allah is the only god. He will certainly gather youMP at the day of resurrection. There is no doubt about it. Whose sayings are truer than Allah's?
0
88
5B1 Why are youMP divided into two groups regarding the hypocrites? Allah has overturned them by what they gained. Do youMP want to guide those Allah has misled? YouMS will not find a way with those Allah misleads.
0
89
They wished youMP disbelieved as they do, so youMP would be alike. Do not takeMP any of them as helpers until they emigrate in Allah’s path. If they turn away, takeMP them and killMP them wherever youMP find them. Do not take them as helpers or saviors,
0
90
except for those who get to people with whom youMP have a covenant, or if they come to youMP and their hearts are besieged from their fighting youMP or fighting their people. If Allah had willed, he would have put them in authority over you and they would have fought you. Allah has not permitted you to fight in any way those who isolate themselves from youMP, do not fight youMP and offer youMP peace.
0
91
You will find others who want themselves and their people to be safe from youMP. Whenever they return to strife they are overthrown by it. If they do not isolate themselves from youMP, offerMP youMP peace, and holdMP their hands back, take them and kill them wherever youMP discover them. We have given youMP clear authority over them.
0
92
A believer should not kill another believer, except by accident. Whoever kills a believer by accident must free a believing slave as a fine surrendered to the family, unless they forego it. If the believer was from people that are enemies of yoursMP, then the penalty is freeing a believing slave. If he was from people youMP have a treaty with, then pay a fine to his family and freeing a believing slave. Whoever cannot do this must fast two consecutive months as repentance given by Allah. Allah is all-knowing and wise.
0
93
He who kills a believer intentionally will be punished in hell forever. Allah is angry with him and has damned him and prepared great torment for him.
0
94
Believers, if youMP march in Allah’s path, useMP discernment and do not sayMP to him who gives greetings of peace to youMP, “YouMS are not a believer.” YouMP want the world’s goods, but Allah has much plunder. Thus youMP were beforehand, but Allah blessed youMP. DiscernMP that Allah is aware of yourMP deeds.
0
95
Believers who sit idle, except for the handicapped, are not equal to those who struggle in Allah’s path with their money and themselves. Allah ranks those who struggle with their money and themselves a grade above the idlers. Allah has promised good to each of them, but Allah prefers the strugglers over the idlers by a great reward:
0
96
rank with him, forgiveness, and mercy. Allah is forgiving and merciful.
0
97
Those the angels cause to die wronged themselves. They said, “What were you like?” They said, “We were weak on the earth.” They said, “Was the earth not wide enough so youMP could emigrate in it? Their home will be hell, an awful destiny.
0
98
The exception is the weak men, the women, and children who cannot plan and be guided on the way.
0
99
Allah may pardon them. Allah is pardoning and merciful.
0
100
5B2 He who emigrates in Allah’s path will find much refuge and room on the earth. He who leaves his house, emigrates to Allah and his messenger, and then dies will have his reward from Allah. Allah is forgiving and merciful.
0
101
If youMP march in the land, it is not wrong to shorten prayers if youMP fear that disbelievers will attack youMP. Disbelievers are a clear enemy to youMP.
0
102
If youMS are among them and performMS prayers for them, let a group of them stand with youMS, and let them take their weapons. When they bow down, let them be behind youMP, and let another group that has not prayed come and pray with youMS. Let them be careful and take their weapons. Disbelievers want youMP to be unaware of their weapons and their equipment so they can turn against youMP at once. It is not wrong for youMP to take off your weapons if you are harmed by rain or sickness, but beware. Allah has prepared shameful torment for disbelievers.
0
103
When youMP finish performing the prayer, rememberMP Allah, when standing, sitting, and on yourMP sides. If youMP feel secure, performMP the prayers. Performing prayers is an obligation to believers at specific times.
0
104
Do not beMP slack in pursuing the people if youMP are in pain. They are in pain like youMP are, and youMP hope from Allah and they do not. Allah is all-knowing and wise.
0
105
We revealed the book to youMS in truth so that youMS can judge between people based on what Allah has shown youMS. Do not beMS an advocate of traitors,
0
106
and askMS forgiveness from Allah. Allah is forgiving and merciful.
0
107
Do not argue about those who betray themselves. Allah does not love guilty traitors.
0
108
They hide from people but they cannot hide from Allah. He is with them when they plot sayings that are not pleasing. Allah knows what they do.
0
109
YouMP argued with them about this life. Who will argue with Allah about them on the day of resurrection, or who will be responsible for them?
0
110
Whoever does evil or wrongs himself, and then asks Allah’s forgiveness will find Allah forgiving and merciful.
0
111
If anyone becomes guilty, it is against his own soul, and Allah is all-knowing and wise.
0
112
Whoever is at fault or guilty and then blames an innocent person has committed slander and is clearly guilty.
0
113
If not for Allah’s grace and mercy to youMS, a group of them would have tried to mislead youMS. They mislead only themselves, and they do not harm youMS at all. Allah revealed the book and wisdom to youMS and taught youMS what youMS did not know. Allah’s grace to youMS was great.
0
114
5B3 There is no good in their private counsels except for those who promote alms or kindness or reconciliation. We will greatly reward those who do that in order to please Allah.
0
115
We will make the one who contends with the messenger after guidance has come to him, who does not follow the believers’ path, get what he has turned to. We will roast him in hell, an evil destiny.
0
116
Allah does not forgive those who worship other gods, but he forgives less serious sins for those he wills. He who worships gods other than Allah has gone far astray.
0
117
They only pray to goddesses besides Allah. They only pray to a devil they follow.
0
118
Allah has damned him, and he said, “I will take some of yourMS worshipers as a required portion,
0
119
mislead them, make them desire, and command them, so they cut the ears of cattle. I will command them and they will change Allah’s creation.” Whoever takes Satan as a helper apart from Allah is clearly lost.
0
120
He promises them and makes them desire. Satan promises only temptations for them.
0
121
Their dwelling place is hell, and they will find no escape from it.
0
122
We will make those who believe and do righteous deeds enter heavenly gardens with flowing rivers underneath, where they will remain forever and ever. This is Allah’s true promise. Who is more trustworthy than Allah in what he says?
0
123
It is neither by yourMP wish nor by the wish of the people of the book; those who do evil will be repaid according to it, and will not find any helper or savior besides Allah.
0
124
Male and female believers who do righteous deeds will enter heaven, and will not be wronged at all.
0
125
Who is better in religion than one who submits his face to Allah and is generous and follows the monotheistic spiritual path of Ibrahim? Allah took Ibrahim as a friend.
0
126
Everything in the heavens and the earth is Allah's. Allah knows everything.
0
127
They ask youMS for a religious decision about women. SayMS, “Allah will give youMP the decision about themFP, in addition to what is recited to youMP in the book about orphan women whom youMP want to marry, to whomFP youMP do not give what was written for them, and weak children: beMP just with orphans. Allah knows the good youMP do.
0
128
If a woman fears her husband will cheat on her or turn away from her, it is not wrong for themD to reconcileD between themselves. Reconciliation is better. Souls are covetous, but if youMP do good and areMP godly, Allah is aware of yourMP deeds.
0
129
YouMP will never be able to treat [multiple] wives justly, even if youMP are careful, so do not turnMP aside from her completely, leaving her hanging. If youMP reconcile and areMP godly, Allah is forgiving and merciful.
0
130
If theyD split up, Allah will enrich each one from his bounty. Allah is omnipresent and wise.
0
131
Everything in heaven and earth is Allah's. We commanded youMP and those who were given the book before youMP, to fear Allah. If youMP disbelieve, everything in heaven and earth is Allah's. Allah is self-sufficient and praiseworthy.”
0
132
Everything in the heavens and the earth is Allah's, and Allah is a sufficent trustee.
0
133
If he wills, he will make all youMP people go away, and bring others. Allah can do that.
0
134
If anyone wants the rewards of this world, Allah has the rewards of this world and the hereafter. Allah hears all and sees all.
0
135
5B4 Believers, be just and fair witnesses to Allah, even if against yourselvesMP, yourMP parents, or relatives. Whether rich or poor, Allah is better than theyD, so do not follow yourMP desires. When youMP twist or turn away from justice, Allah is aware of it.
0
136
Believers, believe in Allah, his messenger, the book he revealed to his messenger, and the book he revealed beforehand. Whoever disbelieves in Allah, his angels, his books, his messengers, and the last day has gone far astray.
0
137
Allah will not forgive or guide those who believe, then disbelieve, then believe, then disbelieve, then become more disbelieving.
0
138
Announce to the hypocrites that they will have painful torment.
0
139
Do those who take disbelievers as helpers instead of believers seek power from them? All power is Allah’s.
0
140
He has revealed to youMP in the book that, if youMP hear his signs being disbelieved and mocked, do not sit with them until they begin talking about something else. Otherwise youMP are like them. Allah will gather all the hypocrites and disbelievers together in hell.
0
141
If youMP have Allah's victory, those who watch youMP will say, “Were we not with youMP?” If [the battle] goes well for the disbelievers, they will say, “Did we not overcome youMP and prevent youMP from the believers?” Allah will judge between youMP on the day of resurrection, and will give the disbelievers no path against the believers.
0
142
The hypocrites try to deceive Allah, and he deceives them. If they stand up for prayers, they do so lazily, just to be seen by men, and they remember Allah infrequently,
0
143
wavering between that, not toward one group nor toward another. If Allah misleads anyone, he will find no way [out].
0
144
Believers, do not take disbelievers as helpers instead of believers. Do youMP want to give Allah clear authority against youMP?
0
145
The hypocrites are the lowest of the low in hellfire. YouMS will find no savior for them.
0
146
The exceptions are those who repent, make amends, deeply trust in Allah, and are sincere in their religion to Allah. They will be with the believers, and Allah will give believers a great reward.
0
147
What does Allah do with yourMP torment if youMP give thanks and believe? Allah is grateful and knows all.
0
148
6A1 Allah does not love publicizing evil sayings except by those who were cheated. Allah hears all and knows all.
0
149
Whether youMP show good or hide it, or pardon evil, Allah is pardoning and powerful.
0
150
Those who disbelieve in Allah and his messengers and want to distinguish between Allah and his messengers and say, “We believe in some and disbelieve in others,” and want to take the middle path
0
151
are truly disbelievers. We have prepared shameful torment for disbelievers.
0
152
We will give rewards to those who believe in Allah and his messengers and do not distinguish between any of them. Allah is forgiving and merciful.

The people of the book ask youMS to make a book come down from heaven. They asked more than that from Musa. They said, “Show us Allah publicly,” and they were struck by lightning for their wickedness. Then they took the calf after miracles had come to them, and we pardoned that and we gave Musa clear authority.

We raised the Mount over them by their covenant, and we told them, “EnterP the door bowing down.” We told them, “Do not break the sabbath,” and we made a strong covenant with them.

155
Because they broke their covenant and disbelieved in Allah’s signs and wrongfully murdered the prophets and said, “Our hearts are hardened,” (Allah has stamped disbelief on their hearts, for only a few believe),
0
156
and because they disbelieved in Allah and accused Mariam of a great scandal,
0
157
and because of their saying, “We killed the Messiah, Isa son of Mariam, Allah’s messenger,” though they did not kill him nor crucify him, but it seemed so to them. Truly those who differed about him are in doubt about him. They have no knowledge about him, but only follow what they guess. They did not kill him certainly.

But Allah raised him up to himself. Allah is strong and wise.

Every one of the people of the book will certainly believe in him before his death, and he will be a witness over them on the day of resurrection.

Because of the wickedness of the Jews, we forbade good things from them that had been permitted. Because they often blocked others from the path to Allah,
0
161
and because the disbelievers among them took usury, which was forbidden to them, and took people’s money falsely, we have prepared painful torment for them.

But those of them who are firm in knowledge and the believers believe in what was revealed to youMS and what was revealed before youMS. We will give a great reward to those who perform the prayers, pay the poor-tax, and believe in Allah and the last day.

6A2 We inspired youMS just as we inspired Nuh and the prophets after him. We inspired Ibrahim, Ismail, Ishaq, Yaqub, the tribes, Isa, Ayyub, Yunus, Harun, and Sulayman. We gave Dawud the Zabur.

We have told youMS the story of messengers beforehand. We have not told youMS the stories of other messengers. Allah spoke to Musa directly.

165
[They were] messengers, bearers of good news, and warners, so that people would have no excuse before Allah after the messengers. Allah is strong and wise.

166
But Allah witnesses to what he revealed to youMS. He revealed it with his knowledge. The angels witness. Allah is a sufficent witness.

167
Disbelievers who block others from Allah’s path have gone far astray.

168
Allah will not forgive or guide wicked disbelievers on the path,
0
169
except for the path to hell, where they will be forever and ever. This is easy for Allah.

People, the messenger has come to youMP with truth from yourMP Lord, so believeMP. It is better for youMP. If youMP disbelieve, everything in the heavens and the earth is Allah's. Allah is all-knowing and wise.

People of the book, do not exaggerate in yourMP religion, and only say the truth about Allah. Truly the Messiah, Isa son of Mariam is Allah’s messenger and his word which he sent down on Mariam, and a spirit from him. So believe in Allah and his messengers and do not sayMP, "Three." StopMP it. It is better for youMP. Allah is one god. May he be glorified above having a boy. Everything in the heavens and the earth is his. Allah is a sufficient trustee.

The Messiah will not disdain to be a servant of Allah, nor will the angels who have been brought near. Allah will gather everyone who proudly disdains his service.
0
173
But he will reward those who believe and do righteous deeds and he will give them more grace. He will painfully torment those who proudly disdain him. They will find no helper or savior apart from him.

People, a proof has come to youMP from yourMP Lord. We have revealed clear light to youMP.

175
Allah will cause those who believe and take refuge in him to enter his mercy and grace,  and he will guide them to him on a straight path.

*** They ask youMS for a religious ruling. SayMS, “Allah will give youMP a religious ruling about distant relatives. If a man dies with no child, but he has a sister, she shall inherit half of what he left behind. He is her heir if she does not have a child. If there are two sisters, they shall inherit two-thirds of what he left behind between them. If there are several brothers and sisters, each male shall inherit as much as two females. Allah makes clear to youMP lest youMP go  astray. Allah knows everything.
