Hud

- 11 -

1
In the name of Allah, the most gracious and merciful. ALR. A book whose verses are firm, which are explained by one wise and experienced,
0
2
so that youMP would only worship Allah. I am a warner and bearer of good news from him to youMP,
0
3
that youMP ask forgiveness from yourMP Lord, then repent toward him. He will make youMP enjoy life well for a set lifespan, and give his grace to every person of grace. If youMP turn away, I fear that youMP will come to the torment of a great day.
0
4
YouMP will return to Allah. He can do anything.
0
5
Do they not fold their hearts to hide from him? When they cover themselves with their clothes, he knows what they conceal and what they announce. He knows all that is in their hearts.
0
6
*** 12A1 Every living creature on earth gets its provision from Allah. He knows their habitat and hiding place. It is all in a clear book.
0
7
He created the heavens and the earth in six days. His throne was on the water to test youMP and see which of youMP were best in works. If youMS say, "YouMP will be resurrected after death," disbelievers will say, “This is clearly magic.”
0
8
If we postpone torment for them to a numbered, fixed term, he will say, “What is keeping it?” It is a day that will come to them, and is not averted from them. Then they were surrounded by what they had made fun of.
0
9
*** If we make mankind taste our mercy, then take it away from him, he despairs and is ungrateful.
0
10
If we give him a taste of blessings after harm has touched him, he will say, “Bad things have gone away from me,” and he will be joyful and boastful.
0
11
Those who endure and do righteous deeds are not like that. They will have forgiveneness and a great reward.
0
12
*** Perhaps youMS have deserted some of what youMS were inspired with, and yourMS heart was constricted because of it, lest they say, “If only a treasure had been revealed to him, or an angel had come with him.” YouMS are only a warner and Allah is responsible for everything.
0
13
*** Or lest they say, “He invented it.” SayMS, “Then come up with ten invented chapters like it, and pray to whoever youMP can besides Allah, if youMP are telling the truth.”
0
14
If they do not answer youMP, knowMP that it was revealed with Allah’s knowledge and he is the only god. So are youMP submitted?
0
15
We will repay the works of whoever wants this world and its charm; their due will not be withheld.
0
16
The only hereafter they will have is hellfire, and what they have done in it will be in vain. Their works are in vain.
0
17
Is he who has a miracleFS from his Lord and reads itMS a witness from him? The book of Musa before itMS was a leader and mercy. They believe in itMS, and whoever among the parties disbelieves in itMS has an appointment with hellfire. So do not beMS in doubt about itMS. It is the truth from yourMS Lord, but most people do not believe.
0
18
Who is more wicked than him who invents lies about Allah? They will be presented to their Lord, and the witnesses will say, “These are denied their Lord. Is Allah’s curse not on the wicked,
0
19
who block Allah’s path, and want it to be crooked, and who disbelieve in the hereafter?”
0
20
They could not frustrate [Allah] on earth, and they had no helper other than Allah. Their torment will be doubled. They could not hear or see.
0
21
They have lost their souls, and what they invented has gone astray from them.
0
22
No doubt in the hereafter they will be the most lost.
0
23
Believers who do righteous deeds and humble themselves before their Lord will enter heaven and remain there forever.
0
24
12A2 The two groups are like the blind and deaf compared to the sighted and hearing. Are they alike? Do youMP not remember?
0
25
We sent Nuh to his people: “I am a clear warner to youMP
0
26
that youMP worship only Allah. I fear that youMP will suffer the torment of a painful day.
0
27
The disbelieving nobles of his people said, “We think youMS are human like us. And we do not see that anyone except the vile and opinionated among us has followed youMS. We do not think youMP are any better than we are. We think youMP are liars.”
0
28
He said, “My people, if I have a miracle from my Lord, and he gave me his mercy and youMP are blind to it, should we compel youMP to it against yourMP will?
0
29
My people, I do not ask youMP for money for it. My reward is from Allah. I will not expel the believers. They will meet their Lord. I think youMP are ignorant people.
0
30
My people, who can save me from Allah if I expel them? Do youMP not remember?
0
31
I do not claim that I own Allah’s storehouses. I do not know what is unseen, and I do not claim to be an angel. I do not tell those yourMP eyes despise that Allah will not give them any good. Allah knows best what is in their souls. I would be wicked if I [did that].
0
32
They said, “Nuh, youMS have disputed with us greatly. Bring on what youMS promise us if youMS are telling the truth.”
0
33
He said, “Allah will bring it upon youMP if he wills, and youMP will not be able to frustrate him.
0
34
My counsel will not help youMP, if I wanted to counsel youMP and Allah wanted to mislead youMP. He is yourMP Lord and youMP will return to him.
0
35
Or do they say, “He invented it”? SayMS, “If I have invented it, that is my wrongdoing. But I am innocent of yourMP wrongdoings.”
0
36
Nuh was inspired, “No more of yourMS people will believe. So do not grieve over what they did.
0
37
Make the ark under our supervision and inspiration, and do not talk to me about the wicked. They will be drowned.
0
38
As he made the ark, whenever the nobles of his people passed by, they made fun of him. He said, “If youMP mock us, we will mock youMP just like youMP are mocking.
0
39
YouMP will know who will be tormented, shamed, and permanently tormented.
0
40
*** When our command came forth and the deep gushed forth, we said, “Load it up with a pair of every kind of animal, yourMS family except the one previously mentioned, and those who believed.” Only a few believed.
0
41
12A3 *** And he said, get on the boat. Its course and its harbor are in Allah’s name. My Lord is forgiving and merciful.
0
42
As it was carrying them on waves like mountains, Nuh called his son, who was estranged, “Son, get on the boat with us, and do not be a disbeliever.”
0
43
He said, “I will take refuge on a mountain that will protect me from the water.” He said, “Nothing can protect [anyone] from Allah’s command today except for those he shows mercy.” Then the waves came between them and he drowned.
0
44
Then it was said, “EarthFS, swallow yourFS water. SkyFS, desistFS.” And the water subsided and it was so. It rested on Mount Ararat and it was said, “Away with wicked people.”
0
45
Nuh called his Lord. He said, “My Lord, my son is part of my family, yourMS promise is true, and youMS are the wisest Judge of all.”
0
46
He said, “Nuh, he was not part of yourMS family; it is an unrighteous deed. So do not askMS me what youMS know nothing about. I warn youMS not to be ignorant.”
0
47
He said, “My Lord, I take refuge in youMS for asking about what I was ignorant. If youMS do not forgive me and have mercy on me, I will certainly be lost.”
0
48
It was said, “Nuh, disembarkMS with our peace and blessings on you and on the nations with youMS.” We will make nations enjoy life, and then touch them with painful torment.
0
49
We tell youMS this news of the unseen. Neither youMS nor yourMS people knew it before. EndureMS, for there is a reward for the godly.
0
50
To Aad, [we sent] their brother Hud. He said, “My people, worship Allah. He is yourMP only god. YouMP are just inventors.
0
51
My people, I do not ask youMP for payment. My payment comes only from my creator. Do youMP not comprehend?
0
52
My people, askMP yourMP Lord’s forgiveness, and repentMP toward him. Then he will send abundant rain upon youMP from the sky and increase yourMP strength. Do not turnMP away and do wrong.”
0
53
They said, “Hud, youMS have not brought us a miracle, and we will not leave our gods just because youMS say so. We do not believe youMS.
0
54
We say that some of our gods have afflicted youMS with evil.” He said, “I call Allah as my witness. TestifyMP that I have nothing to do with the gods youMP worship
0
55
besides him. PlotMP against me, all of youMP, and giveMP me no more time.
0
56
I trust in Allah, my Lord and yourMP Lord. He takes every living creature by its forelocks. My Lord is on the straight path.
0
57
*** If theyMP turn away, I have given youMP the message I was sent with for youMP. My Lord will make other people yourMP successors. YouMP will not harm him at all. My Lord protects everything.”
0
58
When our command came, we rescued Hud and those who believed along with him by our mercy. We rescued them from severe torment.
0
59
*** That was Aad, who rejected their Lord’s signs, disobeyed his messengers, and followed the commands of every stubborn, perverse person.
0
60
They were followed by a curse in this world, and on the day of resurrection. Aad will be disbelievers in their Lord. Is it not so? Away with Aad, Hud’s people.
0
61
12A4 *** And to Thamud [we sent] their brother Salih. He said, “My people, worshipMP Allah. He is yourMP only god. He created youMP from the earth and settled youMP on it. So askMP forgiveness from him and repentMP toward him. My Lord is near and he answers.”
0
62
They said, “Salih, we had high hopes for youMS before this. Do youMS forbid us from worshiping what our fathers worshiped? We have serious doubts about what youMS call us to.”
0
63
*** He said, “My people, what do you think? If I have a miracle from my Lord, and he gave me his mercy, who can save me from Allah if I disobey him. YouMP would only give me greater loss.
0
64
*** My people, this is Allah’s she-camel, a sign for youMP, so let her eat in Allah’s land and do not harm her, or torment will soon seize youMP.”
0
65
So they hamstrung her. He said, “EnjoyMP yourselves in yourMP homes for three days. That is a promise, with no lie.”
0
66
*** Then our command came, and we rescued Salih and those who believed along with him from the shame of that day by our mercy. YourMS Lord is strong and mighty.
0
67
*** Then the cry overtook the wicked, and they bowed down in their homes,
0
68
*** as if they had never flourished in it. Truly Thamud disbelieved in their Lord. Away with Thamud!
0
69
*** Our messengers came to Ibrahim with good news. They said, “Peace!” He said, “Peace!” He did not delay, but brought a grilled calf.
0
70
*** When he saw that their hands did not reach out to it, he denied them and was afraid of them. They said, “Do not be afraid. We were sent to Lut’s people.”
0
71
*** His wife was standing and she laughed. So we gave her good news of Ishaq, and through Ishaq, Yaqub.
0
72
She said, “Woe is me. Shall I give birth when I am old and barren, and my master is an old man? This is strange.
0
73
*** They said, “Do youFS think Allah’s command is strange? May Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you,MP the household. He is praiseworthy and glorious.”
0
74
*** When the fear had gone from Ibrahim and the good news had come to him, he argued with him about Lut’s people.
0
75
*** Ibrahim was gentle, compassionate, and repentant.
0
76
*** “Ibrahim, turnMS away from this. YourMS Lord’s command has come. I will bring them torment that cannot be turned back.”
0
77
*** When our messengers came to Lut, he was sad for them and could not protect themMP. He said, “This is a grievous day.”
0
78
His people came rushing toward him. They had previously done bad deeds. He said, “My people, these are my daughters and theyFP are purer for youMP. FearMP Allah and do not shameMP me in front of my guest. Is there no guided man among youMP?
0
79
They said, “YouMS know we have no right to yourMS daughters. YouMS know what we want.
0
80
He said, “If only I could overpower youMP or take refuge in a strong place.”
0
81
They said, “Lut, we are messengers from yourMS Lord. They will not get youMS. TakeMS yourMS family quickly at night, and none of youMP turn back, except yourMS wife. She will be afflicted by what afflicts them. Their appointment is morning. Is morning not near?
0
82
*** When our command came, we made its high parts low and rained stones of baked clay piled up on it,
0
83
*** marked by yourMS Lord. They are not far from the wicked.
0
84
12B1 [We sent] their brother Shuaib to Midian. He said, “My people, worship Allah. He is yourMP only god. Do not lessenMP the measure and the scale. I see youMP prosper, and I fear youMP will suffer the torment of a day that surrounds.
0
85
*** My people, keepMP the measure and the scale just, and do not lessenMP people’s things, nor be evil and destructive in the land.
0
86
*** Allah’s remnant is better for youMP, if youMP are believers. I am not yourMP keeper.”
0
87
*** They said, “Shuaib, does yourMS prayer command youMS that we leave what our fathers worshiped, or to do what we want with our money? YouMS are gentle and guided.”
0
88
*** He said, “My people, what do youMP think? If I have a miracle from my Lord and he provided for me well through it, I do not want to oppose youMP in what I forbid youMP. I only want whatever reconciliation I can do. Only Allah can give me success. I trust him and repent toward him.
0
89
*** My people, do not let contending with me make youMP do wrong so you are afflicted like Nuh’s people or Hud’s people or Salih’s people. Lut’s people are not far from youMP.
0
90
Ask forgiveness from yourMP Lord, and repentMP toward him. My Lord is merciful and loving.”
0
91
*** They said, “Shuaib, we do not understand much of yourMS sayings, and we think youMS are weak among us. If not for yourMS clan, we would have stoned youMS. YouMS are no stronger than we are.
0
92
*** He said, “My people, is my clan stronger against youMP than Allah? Have youMP put him behind youMP? My Lord is aware of yourMP deeds.
0
93
*** My people, act according to yourMP status! I will act, and youMP will know who will be tormented, shamed, and shown to be a liar. Watch me, for I am watching with youMP.”
0
94
*** When our command came, we rescued Shuaib and those who believed along with him by our mercy. The cry overtook the wicked, and they bowed down in their houses,
0
95
*** as if they had not flourished in them. Away with Midian, as with Thamud.
0
96
*** We sent Musa, with our signs and clear authority,
0
97
*** to Pharaoh and his nobles, and they followed Pharaoh’s command, which was not guided.
0
98
He will lead his people on the day of resurrection, and make them enter hellfire, a dreadful place to enter.
0
99
They were followed in this by a curse, and on the day of resurrection it will be a dreadful gift given.
0
100
That is news of the villages that we relate to youMS. Some are standing and others are reaped.
0
101
*** We did not wrong them, but they wronged themselves. The gods they prayed to besides Allah did not benefit them at all. When yourMS Lord’s command came, the only thing they got more of was loss.
0
102
*** That is the way yourMS Lord seized, when he seized the wicked villages. When he seizes, it is painful and harsh.
0
103
That is a sign for him who fears the torment of the hereafter. That is a day when people are gathered. It is a day that will be witnessed.
0
104
We do not delay it except for a numbered time.
0
105
On that day, no soul will speak except with his permission. Some of them will be miserable and others happy.
0
106
*** The miserable will be in hellfire, where there will be sobbing and sighing,
0
107
*** being in it forever, as long as the heavens and the earth remain, except as yourMS Lord wills. YourMS Lord is effective in what he wants.
0
108
12B2 *** The happy are in the heavenly garden forever, as long as the heavens and the earth remain, except as yourMS Lord wills, an uninterrupted gift.
0
109
*** Do not doubt what these [people] worship. They only worship what their fathers worshiped beforehand. We will repay them with their destiny in full.
0
110
*** We gave Musa the book, and people differed about it. If not for a word which came previously from yourMS Lord, he would have judged between them. They are in serious doubt about it.
0
111
*** YourMS Lord will repay every one of them for their works. He knows what they do.
0
112
So beMS upright, as youMS were commanded, along with those who repent with youMS. Do not transgressMP. He sees yourMP deeds.
0
113
*** Do not dependMP on the wicked, lest hellfire reach youMP and youMP have no helpers apart from Allah. Then youMP will not be saved.
0
114
PerformMS the prayers at both ends of the day and the first part of the night. Good deeds drive away bad deeds. That is something to remember.
0
115
EndureMS, forAllah does not lose the reward of those who do good.
0
116
If only there were a remnant in the generations before youMP who forbade destruction in the land, except for a few of them whom we rescued. The wicked followed the good things of the world and were wrongdoers.
0
117
YourMS Lord would not have destroyed the villages unjustly while they were mending their ways.
0
118
If yourMS Lord had willed, he would have made people all one nation. They all continue to differ,
0
119
except for those yourMS Lord showed mercy. That is why he created them. YourMS Lord’s word was fulfilled: “I will fill hell with jinns and people all together.”
0
120
We relate all this news of messengers to youMS to make yourMS heart firm. Truth, an admonition, and reminder has come to youMS in this.
0
121
SayMS to those who do not believe, “Act according to yourMP status. We are acting.
0
122
WaitMP. We are waiting.”
0
123
The unseen things of the heavens and the earth are Allah's. The whole matter returns to him, so worshipMS him and trust him. YourMS Lord is aware of yourMP deeds.
0
